Beginner's Luck

When an idea pops in your mind in a sudden, get a pen and scribble it on any kind of paper as long as you can write on it or that idea just might evaporate as sudden as it came. And regrettably, it would be lost forever.

This just happened before I was able to find a pen and paper to write the things in my head. I’m supposed to write on something about the title of this article, piece of sh*t, or anything you want to call it. And I can’t believe I’m writing something now considering that I lost my first idea that I was suppose to write about the title.

Anyway, I’ve just finished reading one of Coelho’s. I’m glad that I’m now sure of the correct spelling of the word “alchemist”. Sh*t. I’m embarrassed. I have to admit that I have this weakness or much like an infirmity of forgetting the spelling of words. And that’s sometimes even simple words that I already knew but all of a sudden when I’m writing it, I would be confused. And that is specially with words with double letters in it or words with consecutive letters “i” and “e”. I always had second thought which is supposed to come before the other. I know there’s a name for this condition. I’ve watched it on TV when I was in fourth grade. I was then on a barber shop waiting for my turn to be cut when a TV show (think it was Mel and Jay) discussed about it. It said that even the brightest minds like Leonardo Da Vinci had this condition. There are also numerous Hollywood celebrities who had it. Anyways, enough with the spelling malady and so as not to appear so defensive about it.

Coelho wrote about the good things happening to people when they pursue their dream or as Coelho called it “personal legend”. He said that these good things happen specially in the early part of your quest. It’s like entering through a very exquisite hotel and which you cant resist getting into it because you see a magnificent façade. It’s like being attracted to a magnet. And this is what he called beginner’s luck. Quoting from the book, “When you want something, all the universe conspire for you to achieve it.” It seems that everything around your environment presents great opportunities. I think I’m on that juncture of this wonderful and exciting life. I’m experiencing “beginner’s luck”.

I want to give an advice to you, the one who cared to read this. I know I’m not in a position to give advice because my quest is not yet over and pretty well I’m just starting my journey. But anyhow, since you cared to read, might as well give what I think we should do. This would be the game plan to get to our destination. I say let’s not waste the opportunities that we’re experiencing. Grab grab grab. That is why it’s called beginner’s luck because the luck is only at the onset. You would observe that the luck would slowly fade away as we go long the way. And we’ll depend on our own wits and capacity through the course. Let’s keep focus on our goal, on the trophy waiting for us at the end zone. Let’s expect a bumpy and rough ride. The darkest hour of the night is before the dawn. Don’t give up on your personal legend. I always say this: Give it your best shot. If you work hard at the present, the future will be better.

And when your feet stand before the finish line, it’s up to you how you want to cross it. And it is up to you how you want to savor your success.

My Christmas Wishlist

Everyone's snoring now and I can hardly see the keys of this laptop. But this is the time when I think my brain functions the clearest. Should I have taken a course in college that has a board exam, I could have petitioned or requested to take my exam during these times. Anyway, the title of this post is Christmas Wishlist. So I am suppose and should talk about it. Well it's already December 9, 2011. (I had to check my Blackberry to know that) I can semi-feel Christmas in the air. My work has really f*cked me this past few weeks.

Anyway my Christmas wishlist:

1. A second generation I7 8gb ddr3 2gb video card 750 hdd with a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate OS (preferably Dell). Gotta use this for editing photos and videos.

2. A gaming PC with almost the same specs as above. Gotta use this for my gaming. And yeah for video editing again.

3. The newest/ latest Canon DSLR out there. I got eyes you know. I believe that. I just need a good camera.

Gotta love the 80's

I was not born until '87, but I just felt so attached to the 80's. It's like a chord that links a mother to her unborn child.

Lomo-ish is what I see. Probably the era of the most romantic music. Funny outfits. Funnier haircuts.

Everything, everyone seems young and at their prime. My paps, my momz. Parks are cleaner, people are happier. The warmth of the ambiance is incomparable.

Parties- yeah, the dancing. The sweet slow dances of our fathers with our mothers. The letters they gave to their sweethearts, friends and family.

When I hear the word "nostalgia", I always somehow associate it with the 80's. The laid back, worry-free moment. It's a great feeling going back in time.
